About Us

We are Oliver Hot and Stanley Bothered. We are Hot and Bothered. We are baggy pants performers of the Neo-Vaudeville tradition.  We incorporate banter, comedy, clown, music, magic and nonsense to bring a change of pace to the burlesque scene and beyond.

We are extending the longstanding tradition of the comedy-musical duo that has spanned from Abbot and Costello, through the Smothers Brothers and on to Flight of the Conchords.

Though we don't strictly limit ourselves to the 1920's Vaudevillian period, we embrace the aesthetic and style of that era and strive to bring it to the modern stage.

Brad Grochowski (Stanley Bothered):  Brad is an actor, web programmer and daddy.  He studied theatre performance at Western Michigan University. He is channeling his love of music, ukelele, writing and vaudeville-era performance into each and every show performed by the Hot and Bothered duo.  He is also the author of the book, The Secret Weakness of Dragons and Other Tales A Fairy Whispered In My Ear. He also loves playing Dungeons and Dragons with kids!

As Stanley Bothered, Brad reaches down to his core to bring forth his childish side.  Ok, maybe he doesn't have to dig very deep for that.  Stanley is usually excited about something or other, and approaches life with a naive enthusiasm that you should envy.  He often, though usually accidentally, makes references to words and acts that might make your grandmother blush.  Influences: Ernie, Buddy Abbot, Tom Smothers, Lucile Ball, Jemaine Clement.

Sean P. Finn (Oliver Hot):
Sean P Finn is a nocturnal musician and philosopher of aural delights.  He is a broadcast engineer and producer by day, and an avid sailor whenever possible.  Having made his stage debut at Orchestra Hall in Chicago at the age of 4, it's pretty much been downhill ever since.

As Oliver Hot (and sometimes Bal'd Lightning) Sean brings his musical soul and often cynical intellect together to cope with the madcap mayhem which inevitably follows Stanley wherever he goes.

Influences: Tony Levin, Igor Stravinski, Homer, Quentin Tarantino, Hugh Hefner, Hugh Jackman, Hugh Grant, really almost any Hugh, Stephen Soderberg, Peter Gabriel, Charlotte Brown, John and Alice Finn.
